Nestled in arguably the largest Maple-Basswood forest in Minnesota, Nerstrand Big Woods has been described by visitors as a real gem– one visit will show you why.  For starters, it is the only state park in Minnesota where the rare and federally-endangered Minnesota Dwarf Trout Lily grows and easily is seen each spring from the park’s boardwalk. Wildflower Ambassador volunteers are on the boardwalk during spring weekends to share information about the Dwarf Trout Lily, point out the many other blooming wildflowers, and help provide visitors with an exceptional wildflower viewing experience. A short distance from the boardwalk is the Hidden Falls waterfall, a Big Woods attraction that is a must-see for most visitors. You’re invited to come often to Nerstrand Big Woods and enjoy the special beauty of each season of the year.
